Vices & Vibes’s newest product, Compound Pump, provides an excellent experience and will certainly be a product you’ll want to add to your arsenal! This product is a stimulant-free pump-based pre-workout, with full clinical and efficient dosing of its ingredients. Most notably, Compound Pump contains Pine Bark Extract and a large dose of HydroPrime, a form of Glycerol. Thank you, Jake with Nutricartel, for providing this product for my review! I would recommend this product to those looking to improve their recovery between sessions and aid in the pump, which is one of the most favorable feelings from working out. Additionally, the product is made more versatile by excluding Beta-Alanine from its formula.
Vices & Vibes hit it out of the park with Compound Pump! I really enjoyed this product. It aided in increased vasodilation, muscle fullness, pump, and recovery (by reducing DOMS) and assisted with the underdosing of ingredients in other pre-workout products.

Experience
Even though Compound Pump is not specifically formulated with focus ingredients, it could be used as a stand-alone product similar to a stimulant-free pre-workout. The product provided my muscles with a very satisfying fullness. I felt a great pump, but not a skin-splitting uncomfortable stretch that would reduce the duration of my training. The vasodilation was one of the better aspects of this product, as it gave me the “google map routes” effect lining my forearms up and biceps. This improved my endurance and helped give me a few extra sets during my workout sessions.
Since Compound Pump improved vascularity, my body could shuttle around nutrients to the muscle fibers that were broken down during my training. This improved recovery, reducing the amount of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).
I occasionally use high stimulant-based pre-workouts that cause a lot of constriction to the vascular system, but this product would help in many ways by reducing the negative effects of those types of products. When I combined this product with pre-workouts that contained pump ingredients, it improved my experience. This is one of the main reasons I enjoy utilizing pump products, as they can help improve the effects of weightlifting for my goals.
Side Effects
There are no side effects to report, as with most products formulated to add to existing products.
Flavor
Compound Pump is left unflavored since it likely will be added to other products; however, it does have sucralose on this label. The taste is chalky and sweet due to the Glycerol, but I wouldn’t suggest drinking it on its own without flavoring from another product. As noted here, it is important to be properly hydrated to maximize your experience, as it contains Glycerol Powder. This doesn’t mean you will negate results from not drinking enough water, but more will help. I typically consumed over 14 ounces of water with this product. The label suggests 8 ounces.
Dose/Scoop Size
The serving size is 12.7 g, which is a behemoth of a heaping scoop. I have used this product in several ways: as a stimulant-free pump chest day with 200 mg of caffeine added, taken with Vices & Vibes Speed Nootropic, and added at half a serving to a few different products, which included various amounts of stimulants and pump ingredients. I found this product to be very versatile and the usage to be dependent on your goals, needs, or imagination. As long as you add enough water, the product has no issue with settling.
Ingredients
The label on this product is very comprehensive, with 6 ingredients that are effective at aiding in the pump from which this product gets its name. I am impressed with the formulation, as it is well-dosed and helps improve the effectiveness of other combined products. Since this product does not contain Beta-Alanine, it is perfect for stacking with other products, although I do love the experience with paresthesia.
L-Citrulline – 6 g
L-Citrulline is one of the most common pre-workout ingredients. Extensive evidence supports its ability to increase nitric oxide production, power output, pumps, blood flow, and endurance.
HydroPrime Glycerol Powder 65% – 4 g
Glycerol powder assists with hydration and allows the body to absorb more water than it usually would. This helps stave off dehydration and boasts mild improvements in endurance. Since it helps hydrate your muscle fibers like creatine, take this product with plenty of water for maximum results.
But glycerol is often included in pre-workout supplements because the extra water absorption helps your muscles swell up, giving you a “swole” look. It yields 2.6 grams of glycerol, which makes it one of the most well-dosed products for this ingredient.
Sodium Chloride – 1 g
Sodium can assist with several functions while working out, including delivering massive pumps and increasing muscle creatine uptake. This will help retain water, assisting in rehydration throughout an extensive workout. It also contains essential electrolytes! (More info: Supplements in Review). These extra electrolytes can aid in muscle contraction and function, providing increased endurance at a cellular level.
Pine Bark Extract – 300 mg
Pycnogenol, the active ingredient in pine bark extract, has been reliably shown to create a notable increase in blood flow. 300 mg is the full dose. For comparison, the fantastic Sicario has 200 mg, and FSU Dyehard has 300 mg. This extract has anti-inflammatory effects, which may aid in recovery from muscle fiber breakdown. It also aids in blood flow to assist in erectile dysfunction as well.
L-Novaline – 300 mg
L-Norvaline is a unique amino acid and a form of the BCAA valine. It is an arginase inhibitor, which helps prevent the breakdown of arginine in the body. This makes the nitric oxide production of citrulline more effective. Some sources suggest that a standard dose of L-norvaline is between 100 mg and 200 mg, or even up to 400 mg, but I am not sure how well-supported this claim is (Source). At 300 mg, Compound Pump is within the typical range you’d see in other pre-workouts.
AstraGin – 50 mg
Like Bioperine (a black pepper extract), AstraGin helps absorb nutrients. Most notably, it can increase arginine absorption by 65% and Citruline by 45%. 50 mg is the standard dosage for this ingredient.
