Mark Bell’s Sling Shot has become synonymous with a big bench press and has quickly become one of the most interesting – and fun – pieces of gym equipment available.

Due to their overwhelming popularity, several variations were made. This can make it tricky to know which Sling Shot you should buy. Fear not: it’s not nearly as tricky as it looks.

The 5 Types of Sling Shots

The five types of Sling Shots are below from least stiff to most stiff.

  • Sling Shot Push Up
  • Reactive Sling Shot (blue)
  • Original Sling Shot (red)
  • Full Boar Sling Shot (yellow)
  • Maddog Sling Shot (black)

The simplest way to determine which Sling Shot you should buy is to determine how you intend to use it.

If you just want assistance with push ups, then the Sling Shot Push Up is the correct choice.

If you want to use the Sling Shot for dips or bench press, then one of the other Sling Shots is your ticket. Precisely which Sling Shot depends on how much you bench press.

Under 275 lbs or 124 kg should get the Reactive. Between that and 315 lb or 142 kg should go with the original. Full Boar will take you up to 405 lb / 183 kg, and anything over that will require the mighty Maddog Sling Shot.

And that is how you know which type of Sling Shot to buy!
