Hydraulic is a stim-free pump pre workout supplement from Axe and Sledge. Featuring 5 g L-Citrulline, 3 g GlycerPump, 1 g Agmatine Sulfate, 1 g L-Tyrosine, and other potent ingredients, this product will make you feel swole and pumped up.
I tried it three times over two weeks and had great pumps every time. I would recommend this for anyone looking to lower their caffeine tolerance while still feeling some of the effects of a stim-based pre workout with the Beta-Alanine tingles and L-Tyrosine focus.

My Experience:
I took Hydraulic three times, once with zero stims, once with just caffeine, and once with a stim package. Every time I took it, the pumps were incredible, and even with zero caffeine or other focus ingredients, the focus was perfect by itself.
Effects:
This is a pump pre workout, and the pumps were incredible on this, mind-to-muscle, swollenness, and the pumped-up feeling after a good workout. It’s definitely a contender for inclusion on our list of the best pump pre-workouts.
Even at just 2.4 grams, the Beta-Alanine tingles started after 6 minutes (timed) and felt more like 3 grams or 3.2 grams as the intensity was there (7 out of 10).
Focus with (pretty much) just L-Tyrosine was present and kept you focused and zoned-in. The mind-to-muscle connection was very nice with this product.
There are no side effects; most common with a large scoop (at 20 grams) would be an upset stomach, but nothing at all.
After the workout, you still felt pumped; this would be an excellent product to try before a quick 20-30 minute arm and chest workout just before meeting others just to look bigger.
Flavor:
I tried “Swamp Beast,” which, thankfully, Axe and Sledge describe Apple Berry flavor. It was a nice mild flavor, such as a soft apple and not a sour or candy apple type flavor: no chemical taste or bitter, not even chalky considering the GlycerPump. I’d have to give the flavor an 8 out of 10.
Other flavors include: “Deadlifts and Gummy Bears”/Gummy Bears, “Scorpion Venom”/Mixed Berry, “Shark Bite”/Orange Mango, “HWMF”/Rocket Pop, “Unicorn Blood”/Rainbow Sherbet, and two ICEE ® branded flavors in ICEE ® Cherry and ICEE ® Blue Raspberry.
So Axe and Sledge have given a lot of flavor options.
They also used to have Strawberry Lemonade and Lemon Lime flavors, but they seem to have been discontinued. And GNC has a “Whiskey and Cola” flavor that appears to be exclusive to GNC.
Scoop Size:
A whole serving is 10 grams of 2 scoops. It is quite a heaping scoop, as shown below.

Ingredients
Below you’ll find the Hydraulic Pre Workout ingredients, along with a breakdown of each ingredient.

L-Citrulline – 5,000 mg
L-Citrulline is one of the most common pre workout ingredients. It has extensive evidence supporting its effects on increasing nitric oxide production, power output, and endurance.
Although most research uses a variation known as L-Citrulline Malate (2:1), anecdotal evidence supports that L-Citrulline delivers much of the same benefit.
When included as pure L-Citrulline, we like to see 4 grams as the dosage, but Hydraulic gives you more, at 5 grams, which is a perfect dose.
Glycerol Powder (std to 65% Glycerol) GlycerPump ™ – 3,000 mg
GlycerPump is a patented form of glycerol powder. Glycerol powder assists with hydration and allows the body to absorb more water than it usually would. This helps stave off dehydration and can have mild improvements in endurance.
But the real reason it is often included in pre workout supplements is that all of this extra water absorption can help your muscles swell up, giving you a “swole” look.
Two grams is a solid dosage from GlycerPump. It usually ranges from 2 to 3 grams per serving in good supplements.
One slight side-effect of glycerol is clumping inside of the tub, though I’ve had mine for well over a year or so, and I’ve had very minimal clumping.
Beta Alanine – 2,400 mg
Beta-alanine has been shown to support muscular endurance and can act as a lactic acid buffer.
However, beta-alanine requires regular intake to be effective, akin to creatine. Daily supplementation of beta-alanine is recommended, with a loading period of three to five weeks needed to be effective.
3 to 4 grams is the recommended daily dosage for beta-alanine. Hydraulic is underdosed in this regard, but even at an under-substantial dose, you can still feel it.
Taurine – 2,000 mg
Taurine is a “miscellaneous” pre workout ingredient with a range of potential, albeit limited, physical benefits. It can aid in blood flow, reduce cramping, and boost antioxidant defense systems (Examine). It’s a pretty insignificant ingredient in pre workout compared to other components but doesn’t hurt anything either.
Hydraulic gives you 2 grams is a solid dosage of taurine to achieve any effects it has to offer. Usually, other products have 500 mg to 2 grams.
Creatine MagnaPower – 1,500 mg
From MRI Performance, Creatine Magnapower is magnesium-chelated creatine, meaning that it is creatine bound to magnesium. This chelated structure aids in increased absorption, which improves the body’s capacity to make ATP, improves carbohydrate digestion, creatine bioavailability, and prevents the creatine from becoming ineffective by protecting its molecular structure. Magnesium creatine chelate increases the bioavailability of the creatine for your muscle to metabolize and therefore results in more significant muscle energy potential.
Supposed benefits are increased bioavailability of creatine and magnesium, increased ATP production, improved cellular hydration, enhanced anaerobic performance, increased muscle mass, increased strength, and power, decreased muscle soreness.
1,500 mg to 2,500 per serving seems to be the usual dose seen in other products.
Agmatine Sulfate (AgmaMax ™) – 1,000 mg
Agmatine is included as a “pump” ingredient, but research is more limited on this ingredient vs. the classic L-Citrulline. The 1,000 mg contained is within the range you’d typically see in a pre-workout supplement with Agmatine Sulfate, which occasionally ranges between 500 mg and 1,500 mg, putting Hydraulic right in the middle of the range.
L-Tyrosine – 1,000 mg
L-Tyrosine helps “smooth out” some of the harsher effects of stimulants and increases focus. Some limited research also shows it can act as a cognitive booster in stressful environments.
One gram is a perfect dosage, and lands within the range recommended for use in an exercise setting.
Arginine Silicate (Nitrosigine®) 1,000 mg
Nitrosigine is the name brand of Arginine Silicate.
Nitrosigine is an ingredient that helps increase nitric oxide levels, muscle size, and mental acuity.
NitroSigine is also included to boost nitric oxide (NO) production for greater blood flow.
1,000 mg is in the middle-end of the recommended range, 750 mg to 1,500 mg per day. Combined with 5 grams of L-Citrulline, though, you’ll be sure to get a decent pump going during your workout.
N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine – 250 mg
While L-Tyrosine is an excellent ingredient for enhancing focus and reducing stress, NALT (N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine) is less bioavailable than pure L-Tyrosine.
Transparent Labs claims that “…the acetylation improves the absorption and effective period of L-Tyrosine…”, but Examine claims there is “limited practical evidence on NALT as an alternative to L-Tyrosine.”
250 mg is not close to a clinical dosage for this ingredient.
To be honest, this is an odd inclusion to the otherwise good formula; you’ve already got 1 gram of pure L-Tyrosine; I would have liked to have seen this replaced with another nootropic such as CDP Choline or Alpha GPC or Lion’s Mane.
Hydraulic by Axe and Sledge will make you feel as if you took a stim-based pre-workout without having taken one. It is recommended for anyone looking to get off stims without having to give up the feeling of one with the Beta-Alanine for the tingles and L-Tyrosine for focus.
Hydraulic is easily stackable with a stim-based nootropic for a complete pre-workout experience.
