MicroPure Whey Protein Isolate is Kaged Muscle’s flagship protein product. As a fan of whey protein isolate, preferring it over whey concentrate, I was excited when Kaged Muscle sent this one over for me to try.

The short version: I really liked this protein powder and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality whey protein isolate. I tried the chocolate flavor and I think it’s pretty good and a little sweet.

In fact, it made my list of the best whey protein isolate powders.

For more details, read on below.

My Experience

I’ve been using Kaged Muscle’s Whey Protein Isolate protein powder over the last several weeks and I have to say I’m a big fan. I usually take it after my workouts and if I’m still hungry after dinner.

Flavor

The very first time I tried the chocolate flavor, I thought it was a bit sweet. And it is. It’s a bit sweet, but not outrageous. Unless you detest any sweetness in your protein powder, I think you’ll like it.

I think this is the result of the stevia and sucralose included. If you’re sensitive to these flavors, you may be better off going with something like Nutra Bio’s chocolate. Otherwise I think Kaged Muscle is excellent.

I find there’s always a little “flavor adjustment” when trying a new protein powder after I’ve been using a different one for a while. I had been taking Nutra Bio’s Vanilla and, in comparison, it’s a bit less sweet than the chocolate flavor from Kaged Muscle.

Digestion

I’ve had no issues digesting this protein powder. When I first started working out and ingesting protein powder several years ago, I just pounded whole milk and whey concentrate. The result was… a bit difficult on my digestive tract (read: my toilet).

I’ve since switched to whey protein isolate and the difference is massive. Is it worth the extra money? For me, absolutely.

And at about a dollar per serving, it’s really a fair deal in my opinion.

Personally I like to pair this with Fairlife Mik, which has 50% more protein and 50% less sugar than typical cow milk. It’s also lactose free, which is helpful when you drink as much milk as I do.

Overall

Look, it’s a protein powder. It only has a few jobs:

  • Have protein
  • Not have a bunch of other junk
  • Taste somewhere between pretty good to great
  • Don’t cause gas, bloating, indigestion, etc.

And by those measures, the whey protein isolate from Kaged Muscle definitely delivers. It’s a solid product at a reasonable price. Thumbs up.

Kaged Muscle Whey Protein Isolate Ingredients

Below you can find the ingredients label for Kaged Muscle’s Whey Protein Isolate protein powder for the vanilla flavor.

The ingredient profile is similar for all flavors, but “Natural Cinnamon Roll” and “Natural Coffee Latte” have 4 grams of sugar per serving, whereas the other flavors have 1g of sugar or less.

Fat (0.5 g)

Kaged Muscle’s Whey Protein Isolate is definitely a lean protein powder supplement, containing just 0.5 grams of fat per serving.

Carbs (2 g)

This protein powder is a good choice for those looking to keep their carb intake to a minimum. Each serving contains only 2 grams of carbohydrates, which is pretty low vs. other protein powders.

As a point of comparison, Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey Concentrate has 4 grams of carbs.

Sugar (1 g)

1 gram of sugar per serving is solid. I’m surprised it’s so low, as the protein powder is still quite sweet.

If you’re looking to avoid excess sugar, then I would not recommend the Natural Coffee Latte or Natural Cinnamon Roll flavors, as they contain 4 grams of sugar per serving. All other flavors only contain 1 gram of sugar, except Cinnamon French Toast, which has 0 grams of sugar.

Protein (25 g)

Protein is obviously the star of the show here, the most important ingredient. 25 grams of protein is a very solid amount per serving, which can be kicked up a notch when paired with milk or another protein rich liquid.

Kaged Muscle Whey Protein Isolate Protein Powder Review
4.8

Summary

Honestly this is just a solid whey protein isolate. I don’t have anything truly negative to say about it and think it does everything it should. While it’s not as cheap as a whey concentrate, I think the ease of digestion for this product is a massive, massive advantage. It tastes good, mixes easily, and does its job. Recommended.

Pros

  • Tastes good
  • Doesn’t cause bloating, gas, indigestion, etc.
  • High quality ingredients
  • Low in sugar, carbs, and fat

Cons

  • May be a little too sweet for a few people
