5 grams of creatine is equivalent to 1.4 teaspoons. This is about one and a half teaspoons.

Here are some photos to help you visualize what 5 grams of creatine looks like.

A flat teaspoon of creatine powder weighs three grams.

If you’d like to buy the scale shown in the photos, you can do so on Amazon.

After you have a flat teaspoon of creatine powder, add another half a teaspoon. This weighs about two grams.

For reference, here’s what 5.3 grams of creatine in a teaspoon looks like. As you can see, it’s quite a heaping scoop.

How can I weigh 5 grams of creatine without a scale?

If you don’t have a scale, using a teaspoon is the easiest way to measure 5 grams of creatine. Combine one flat teaspoon of creatine with half a teaspoon and you should have about 5 grams in total.

Do I need 5 grams of creatine per day?

The optimum dosage of creatine monohydrate is 3 to 5 grams to maintain optimal muscle stores. You can ingest 0.03 grams of creatine monohydrate for every kg of body weight as a daily maintenance dose.

If you want to measure out 3 grams of creatine, you can use one flat teaspoon.

Can I take too much creatine?

Taking more than 5 grams of creatine monohydrate daily has no serious side effects. Non-serious side effects, such as stomach discomfort or gas, may occur.

You can take up to 20 grams of creatine monohydrate per day when you first start taking it. This is called a loading phase.

After 5 to 7 days of loading, a daily dose of 3 to 5 grams is recommended. This is called a maintenance dose.
