Pre-workout is a pre-workout supplement from Ryse Up Supplements. Fueled by 3.2 g Beta-Alanine, 1.5 g Choline Bitartrate, 1.5 g Betaine Anhydrous, 500 mg Sodium Nitrate, 400 mg total caffeine from two different sources, 200 mg Theobromine, and 10 mg Huperzine-A, this pre-workout provides the energy, focus, and pumps required for a grueling workout.
I would recommend this for beginners taking at least 300 or so mg of caffeine (such as a Bang or Reign energy drink). The focus, energy, and pumps should be enough and the product can serve as a stepping-stone to other more intense pre-workouts.
Read on for additional details of my experience, the best prices for the Ryse pre-workout, and a breakdown of its ingredient label.

My Experience
Over two weeks, I tried this five times; three times before a 12-hour work shift, and twice before a workout.
Even though I am experienced with pre-workouts, Pre-Workout gave me enough energy for a 12-hour shift. However, the focus was slightly lacking.
Even during a two-three hour-long workout, it provided energy and pumps for the entirety of the workout.
Effects
The main results of this product are energy, focus, and pumps.
Within 5 minutes, I felt a wave of beta-alanine tingles. After 5-7 minutes, the tingling sensation went away. For intensity, I would give the product a 7 out of 10.
Within 15 minutes, a smooth wave of energy came over me. It lasted about 3 hours for workouts and over 5 hours for work.
The focus wasn’t initially apparent, but once I completed my warm-up, the focus snuck up on me. It was pleasant, though not tunnel-vision or laser-type focus.
No adverse side effects were noted.
Flavor
I tried the “Sunny D ™” flavor, which tasted like the Sunny D drink with 10 oz of cold water. Tangy and not overly sweet, I’d give it a 10 out of 10 for flavor.
Two other flavors are available in Baja Burst and Tigers Blood.
Scoop Size
A whole serving is 11.2-grams, which comes out to just below a flat scoop.
Ingredients
Beta-Alanine – 3,200 mg
Beta-alanine has been shown to support muscular endurance and act as a lactic acid buffer.
However, beta-alanine requires regular intake to be effective, akin to creatine. Daily supplementation of beta-alanine is recommended, with a loading period of three to five weeks needed to be effective.
3 to 4 grams is the recommended daily dosage for beta-alanine, with 3.2-grams being the most common. the 3.2 grams in Ryse’s pre-workout is in the range.
Betaine Anhydrous – 1,500 mg
Betaine is included to help increase your power output. However, research is pretty inconsistent around this claim. Since the typical range for Betaine is between 1.5 g and 5 g, the 1.5-gram dose is on the lower end of that threshold.
Choline Bitartrate – 1,525 mg
Choline is a focus ingredient and chlorogenic source. Compared with Alpha GPC, choline bitartrate may not be as effective as a nootropic (source). This is another potential area of improvement for the product formula.
Doses usually range between 500 mg and 2,000 mg, so the 1.525-grams included will be enough to experience the benefits of choline.
Although it doesn’t state on the label the total amount of Choline Bitartrate, from the choline, we can figure out that it is a total of 1.525-grams as choline bitartrate is 40% choline. 610 mg (of Choline) / 40% = 1,525 mg of Choline Bitartrate.
Betaine Nitrate (NO3-T ®) – 1,000 mg
Nitrate (NO3–) is a small molecule produced by the body in limited amounts (as a byproduct of nitric oxide). It is obtained via vegetables, particularly beetroot and other low-calorie tuber vegetables, such as turnips, and leafy green vegetables, such as spinach or rocket.
According to Examine, benefits of nitrates include reduced blood pressure, , regulated blood flow and vasodilation, reduced oxygen cost during exercise (allowing you to exercise longer), and kidney protection.
Sodium Nitrate – 500 mg
According to Healthline, nitrate is a compound found in beetroot and dark leafy greens like spinach and arugula.
When you consume nitrate, your body converts it to nitric oxide, which causes blood vessels to relax and dilate, lowering blood pressure.
Many studies have shown nitrate may help lower blood pressure by increasing nitric oxide production (NCBI, NCBI, NCBI, NCBI).
One review analyzed the effects of taking nitrate supplements on blood pressure in adults (NCBI).
Six of the 13 studies found significant reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure when participants took nitrate supplements (NCBI).
Another review of 43 studies found that participants’ systolic and diastolic blood pressures decreased by an average of 3.55 and 1.32 mm Hg, respectively, after they took nitrate supplements (NCBI).
In several analyses, nitrate has been shown to improve exercise performance in cyclists, runners, swimmers, and even kayakers (LWW Journals, NCBI, NCBI).
Caffeine Anhydrous – 370 mg
Caffeine needs no introduction, but it’s one of the most researched sports supplements. Most fat burners will range between 175 mg (as with the great M2) and 600 mg (as with the smoothest Hooligan).
Typically, pre-workouts range from 250 to 450 mg. With the 30 mg of VitaShure ®, Ryse pre-workout provides 400 mg of total caffeine.
Theobromine – 200 mg
Theobromine is a “caffeine light” stimulant ingredient found in chocolate, some tea plants, and the Kola Nut. Its name means “Food of the Gods.” Greek “theo” means gods, and “broma” translates to food. As anyone with a sugar craving, you can understand why.
Some anecdotal evidence suggests that Theobromine can contribute to mood elevation, focus, and stimulation.
Most doses range from 100 mg-400 mg, so this is in the middle.
VitaShure Caffeine SR – 30 mg
VitaShure Caffeine SR is a patented form of di-caffeine malate. The “SR” stands for sustained release, indicating that the caffeine effects will last longer than with standard caffeine.
Huperzine A – 10 mg
Like Choline Bitartrate, Huperzine A is cholinergic and acts as a cognitive enhancer. As an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, it helps lengthen the half-life of cholinergic sources (Examine).
Huperzine tends to be taken in doses of 50 mcg to 200 mcg, so the amount found in Ryse pre-workout lands above the clinically effective range at 100 mcg.
