Looking for the best laxogenin supplements?

You’re not alone!

Laxogenin, while not as “hot” as ecdysterone or turkesterone, is still one of the most popular options for those seeking natural muscle-building supplements.

If you’re looking to build lean muscle mass and increase strength without serious side effects, it’s not surprising you came across laxogenin.

Let’s be clear: there’s not enough research available right now to know definitively if laxogenin is worth your time and money. Frankly, there’s probably a little more promising research for turkesterone and ecdysterone.

But hey, there’s plenty of people who swear up and down that laxogenin helped them build dry, hard muscle and pack on some lean muscle mass.

Should you decide to try it out for yourself, we’ve reviewed some of the most popular options on the market to see who looks legit and who you should probably avoid when purchasing laxogenin supplements.

If you simply want to know which laxogenin supplement is the best, that distinction goes to Huge Supplements’ Annihilate laxogenin supplement.

While pricey, Huge Supplements has developed a reputation for quality that is hard to ignore.

If you’re looking for a less expensive option that is still reputable, check out Laxogenin-100 from Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals.

How We Chose the Best Laxogenin Supplements

When researching the best laxogenin supplements, preference is given to the products with the following characteristics.

  1. Look for high-value products.
    1. Most users of laxogenin take between 100 mg and 200 mg each day. This is important to factor in when considering the total price of a supplement.
    2. Value doesn’t mean cheap – the quality still needs to be there.
  2. Keep supplement quality and company reputationin mind.
    1. You don’t want to buy from just any random company on Amazon. Make sure you purchase from a reputable source.

Huge Supplements has quickly made a name for itself over the last couple of years. From releasing the wildly popular Wrecked and Wrecked Extreme pre-workouts to producing one of the best ecdysterone supplements, they’ve established a reputation for top quality and high potency.

Their laxogenin supplement, Annihilate, appears to be no different. Each bottle contains 60 capsules with 100 mg of 5-alpha-hydroxy laxogenin each. This equates to 60 or 30 servings per bottle, depending on if you intend to go with a 100 mg or 200 mg daily dosage.

The product has amassed 153 5-star reviews and 52 4-star reviews on their site.

Users comments on improvements in their physical appearance, strength gains, and increased muscle mass.

If you have the cash to spring for high-quality laxogenin, Annihilate is an excellent choice.

Pros:

  • Reputable company
  • Many satisfied customers
  • 100 mg per capsule
  • 30 200 mg servings per bottle

Cons:

  • A bit pricey at $2 per day (at 200 mg per day)

Bulk Stimulants – Laxogenin Powder

Bulk Stimulants has been quietly making a name for itself over the last couple of years by selling quality supplements at reasonable prices.

I’ve personally tried their DMAA and DMHA powder and found both to be pretty good. Full disclosure: I got these back in mid-2020. More recently, Review Bros reviewed their DMAA and found it to be “bunk.” It’s possible their quality varies a bit based on what batches they get in from their raw ingredient supplier(s).

With that said, their bulk laxogenin powder looks promising. It has racked up dozens of positive reviews on Amazon and when I ran the reviews through Review Meta, a fake review detection tool, Bulk Supplements Laxogenin passed, meaning the reviews seem legit.

One downside of this product is that because it comes as a bulk powder, you will need to measure it yourself with a. milligram scale (I use this one and love it). It also apparently doesn’t mix very well, so you may need to dry scoop it and chase it with water. If either of these are deal-breakers for you, then this may not be the right product for you.

On the upside, at $50 for 10 grams, you’re getting 50 to 100 servings depending on if you want to take 100 mg or 200 mg per day. Even at the upper end (200 mg), that’s just $1 per day.

Pros:

  • Best value laxogenin on the market ($1 per day at 200 mg daily)

Cons:

  • May need to be dry-scooped
  • You need a scale to properly measure doses

Phase One Nutrition – Laxovar

Verdict: Expensive

Laxovar by Phase One Nutrition is the only supplement on this list that uses a trademarked form of laxogenin, Laxosterone.

For those willing to spend more, Laxovar from Phase One Nutrition may be an attractive option. The reason for this is that it’s one of the only products to offer Laxosterone, a patented form of laxogenin. While the patented form doesn’t necessarily guarantee better results, it does significantly increase the purity of the laxogenin.

With that said, generally speaking, non-trademarked ingredients can absolutely still work – in fact, most supplements contain ingredients that are not trademarked.

Pros:

  • Trademarked laxogenin ingredient source

Cons:

  • Each bottle only contains 15 days of servings if taking 200 mg per day, working out to $4 per day

Laxogenin-100 from Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals is a budget-friendly option from a reputable company. With over 40 reviews, this product is one of the more popular natural muscle building supplement options offered by Hi-Tech.

Pros:

  • Reputable company (been in the industry for over 20 years, known for pushing boundaries)

Cons:

Halo is Redcon1’s laxogenin supplement. At $49 for 60 100 mg servings, it’s one of the more reasonably priced laxogenin supplements.

Redcon1 is a well-established company in the supplement industry and they are experienced with some of the more “grey area” muscle building supplements out there. Halo is one of their more popular products, earning hundreds of 5 star reviews from their customers.

Here’s a review from Mr. Brian Hendricks:

Redcon1 Halo Final Review

And here’s another review from Alonzo5.0:

Redcon1 Halo / How much muscle and strength did I gain?

Pros:

  • Reputable manufacturer
  • 100 mg per capsule
  • Not overpriced (comparatively)

Cons:

Blackstone Labs – Anogenin

Containing a scant 25 mg of laxogenin per capsule, a 60 capsule bottle only yields 15 100 mg servings. For the price, this is prohibitively expensive.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Way too expensive to justify purchasing

NCN Premium Nutraceuticals – Genbolin

Verdict: Not recommended

NCN Premium Nutraceuticals Genbolin Lexogenin

You can check out a review of EpiSmash from David Fredrickson here. He noticed increases in endurance, vascularity, and insulin sensitivity.

Blackstone Labs EpiCat & Epi Smash Review - EPICAT VS EPI SMASH

Pros:

  • Combines effective doses of laxogenin (100 mg) and epicatechin (150 mg) in each capsule
  • At two capsules per day, each bottle contains a 30 day supply
  • Significantly cheaper than buying each separately

Cons:

  • Laxogenin should be taken with with meals, while epicatechin should be taken to boost nitric oxide levels before a workout. Combining both into a single pill can make it harder to take each supplement at the proper time.

Genbolin from NCN Premium Nutraceuticals is their laxogenin supplement offering.

Unfortunately, you’re not getting a good value for your money here. There are only 30 100 mg servings of laxogenin per bottle. With no particular reason to assume that this is higher quality laxogenin, this just comes off as being a bit of a rip off for the consumer.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Only contains 30 100 mg servings or 15 200 mg servings per bottle

Worldwide Nutrition – Anabolic Accelerator

Verdict: Not recommended

Worldwide Nutrition - Anabolic Accelerator Laxogenin Supplement

Anabolic Accelerator looks okay on paper, but Worldwide Nutrition is not a very well known brand. Until they develop more of a reputation, I’d recommend a more reputable brand like Redcon1, Huge Supplements, or Blackstone Labs instead.

Pros:

  • Each bottles contains 60 100 mg servings of laxogenin (smilax sieboldii extract) or 30 200 mg servings

Cons:

  • Limited reviews available outside of Amazon

Power Cap Labs – Mass Caps

Verdict: Not recommended

Power Cap Labs Mass Caps Laxogenin Supplement

Power Cap Labs is still using a gmail account on their website, haven’t updated their Instagram in over a year, and don’t have any stock available on their Amazon store.

They could be a promising young upstar supplement company, but for now I’d avoid.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Only 15 servings per bottle at 200 mg per serving

Chaos and Pain – Legendary Mass Builder

Verdict: Not recommended (underdosed for laxogenin)

I usually like Chaos and Pain products, but I have to be honest and say that this particular product is underdosed if you’re buying it for the laxogenin.

Verdict: Recommended

At 25 mg of laxogenin per capsule, a 60 capsule bottle would only last you seven days if you were taking 200 mg of laxogenin per day.

If you’re buying it for its epicatechin, that’s a different story.

Each bottle contains enough for 60 150 mg epicatechin doses or 30 300 mg epicatechin doses, making it a good choice for that particular ingredient.

But if you’re seeking the best laxogenin supplement, Legendary is not recommended.

Pros:

  • Contains solid doses of epicatechin, a natural, plant-based antioxidant flavonoid.

Cons:

  • Underdosed for laxogenin. Only contains one week of doses if taking 200 mg of laxogenin per day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Laxogenin Supplements

What is laxogenin?

Laxogenin is a sapogenin chemical compound that stimulates plant growth. Specifically, it is found in smilax sieboldii.

Laxogenin belongs to a group of compounds known as brassinosteroids. Remember that name, because it’ll come up again later on.

Because laxogenin helps stimulate plant growth, there has been significant interest around its potential to stimulate human muscle growth too.

Is laxogenin banned?

No, laxogenin is not currently banned by WADA or the NCAA. It can be used by tested athletes.

Laxogenin has been placed on the FDA’s advisory list, meaning it advises companies not to sell products containing laxogenin and it advises consumers not to purchase products containing laxogenin.

However, it is still legal to manufacture, sell, and purchase laxogenin supplements, at least in the USA.

Does laxogenin actually do anything?

More laxogenin human trials are needed to determine its effects on increasing muscle protein synthesis and building lean muscle mass.

With that said, there has been some promising research published on brassinosteroids, the group of compounds that laxogenin belongs to.

The study linked above is in reference to 28-Homobrassinolide, which was determined to possess some anabolic effect in rats. Specifically, muscle protein synthesis was increased, protein degradation was decreased, and strength increased.

Now, you’re probably asking yourself: what does 28-Homobrassinolide (28-HB) have to do with 5-alpha-hydroxy-laxogenin?

Both compounds are brassinosteroids and the reason this study is commonly cited as evidence in favor of laxogenin usage is that 28-Homobrassinolide (28-HB) can be considered as a proxy for laxogenin. Just because something is true of 28-HB doesn’t necessarily make it true for laxogenin.

How much laxogenin should I take?

Typical laxogenin dosages range from 100 mg to 200 mg daily. Laxogenin should be dosed once per day with a meal.

Does laxogenin need to be cycled?

No, laxogenin does not need to be cycled. It can be taken year round if desired.

Does laxogenin require post cycle therapy?

No, laxogenin does not require post cycle therapy.

Is laxogenin a steroid?

No, laxogenin is not an anabolic steroid.

Is laxogenin a prohormone?

No, laxogenin is not a prohormone.
