Gistix Labs primarily sells through Amazon, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is a bit of a red flag. Why? It’s relatively easy to just spin up a brand, list a product on Amazon, and make a little bit of money even if the product is bunk.

Because Gistix Labs doesn’t really have a full website (it’s a single page site that only lists their turkesterone product) I’m a bit suspect of their legitimacy.

On the other hand, their reviews on Amazon are good and a check on Review Meta suggests the reviews are mostly legit.

I first came across Nutrissa when I was doing research for my list of the best turkesterone supplements. While Nutrissa does have a website, it has very little actual information on it. This makes it really difficult to try to assess the quality of their product, which does look good on paper.

Nutrissa’s turkesterone and ecdysterone products both appear to be very similar to Gorilla Mind and Intelligent Elephant, Gorilla Mind’s sister company that sells ecdysterone.

Until more reviews come in around Nutrissa, I’d advise you to seek other vendors out before trying Nutrissa. If they turn out to be legit, then their product offers a truly excellent value. We’ll see.

They have mainly positive reviews on Amazon and a they passed a review from Fake Spot, suggesting they’re legitimate reviews.

Peerless Labs – Beta Ecdysterone Powder

Verdict: Not recommended

I’m not sure where to start here.

The label looks like a middle school kid made it. Actually, a middle schooler would probably do a better job.

There’s a COA on their Amazon product page without a QR code for validation or any indication of the lab that performed the alleged analysis. It’s just a screenshot of a document that anyone could make on their computer.

They (might?) have a website here, which is about as sketchy looking as you’d guess. Even though the site is hosted on Shopify, they somehow managed to make it look like it’s still running on Geocities in 1998.

And to top it all off: their contact information is a Gmail address. No address, no phone number. It just lists a city!

If they don’t care enough to fix up the things I just mentioned, why should I believe their product is any different?

Maybe their ecdysterone rules and truly is 98% pure, I don’t know.

The downside here is that you’ll need a way to ingest the powder. Some may find the taste unpleasant, making the capsule version a better choice for those people.

What is ecdysterone?

Ecdysterone, also known as 20-Hydroxyecdysone, is a hormone naturally found in some plants and insects. They play an important role in the development of tissue. Ecdysterone binds to the estrogen receptor-beta, which induces muscle growth and an increase in muscle mass.

In addition, ecdysterone has been shown to increase muscle protein synthesis by stimulating the PI3K/AKT pathway.

Like turkesterone, ecdysterone is an ecdysteroid. Turkesterone is actually an analog of ecdysterone, so they’re closely related but slightly different.

What is the difference between ecdysterone and turkesterone?

When it comes to nutritional supplementation, the main difference between ecdysterone and turkesterone is the amount of peer-reviewed published research. Ecdysterone has had very few published human trials and turkesterone has not had any human trials published.

One of the more intriguing human trials of ecdysterone is “Ecdysteroids as non-conventional anabolic agent: performance enhancement by ecdysterone supplementation in humans,” published in Archives of Toxicology in 2019. This study showed that young men who were given ecdysterone over a 10 week period of resistance training showed “significantly higher increases in muscle mass” vs the placebo group. Even their one rep max on the bench press increased significantly when compared to the placebo group!

Crucially, no increases in biomarkers for liver or kidney were observed.

Quite simply, turkesterone does not have a peer-reviewed study like this to cite. Existing turkesterone research has been done in rats or in vitro, which is a good start, but not as useful as a human trial.

Chemically speaking, ecdysterone and turkesterone are quite similar and behave in similar ways. In fact, both are found in ajuga turkestanica, a common source of turkesterone.

Last, turkesterone is slightly more anabolic than ecdysteorne, but ultimately neither is necessarily “better” for you. Your individual response to these compounds may vary and will not necessarily be the same as someone else’s individual response to these compounds.

Does ecdysterone actually work?

The human research on ecdysterone’s impact on muscle growth and strength gains is limited but promising.

The truth is that whether it works for you will ultimately come down to a few things:

1. Your training regimen
2. Your diet
3. Your recovery protocol (sleep, nutrition)
4. Your individual response to ecdysterone
