Light Year is a pre workout supplement from Galaxy Labs. I bought this on a whim as the label looked impressive, but I am so glad that I did. Powered by 4 g L-Citrulline, 3.2 g Beta-Alanine, 2 g HydroMax, 1 g Agmatine, 600 mg Alpha GPC, 250 mg Caffeine, 250 mg Eria Jarensis, 200 mg DMHA, 150 mg PEA, and others, this pre-workout had me flying. I was in a legit excellent euphoric mood.
I tried it once, but oh man, it was seriously incredible. I’d recommend this for anyone who is experienced with pre workouts and has tried gray market stims because even with just 250 mg caffeine, this one hit and hit very well. In fact, it’s been added to the Lift Vault list of best DMHA pre workouts.
One other, important note: Holy Hygroscopic Batman, this product is incredibly clumpy, so I’d HIGHLY recommend you have a scale to measure the serving size. Despite the clumps, the powder dissolved in water easily.

My Experience
I took Light Year just one time, and it was well enough to know that it was an incredible pre workout. It felt like a DMAA product, with the euphoria beating many others I’ve tried. Light Year pre workout has quickly become one of my favorite pre workouts and definitely in my rotation for pre workouts to take.
The closest I could compare this to M2 by Mind Muscle Nutrition (though this has more euphoria, while M2 had more focus), the OG Sparta Nutrition Kraken, or the older formula of Steel Supplements’ Charged AF.

Effects
The main effects of this are pumps, mood, and energy.
The Beta-Alanine tingles came in 2 waves for me, first was not very noticeable after 12-15 minutes and lasted 5 minutes or so. The second wave was much stronger after about 25 minutes and lasted for 10-15 minutes. In total was an intensity of 7.5 out of 10.
Within 15 minutes, a sudden yet smooth energy wafts over you. Even with just 250 mg of caffeine, the energy lasted 6+ hours, and I felt it after over 8 hours.
After 20 minutes, I got a glorious, euphoric, happy feeling. Even after 8 hours, I was still feeling it. It felt like DMAA without any crash.
The mood elevation is so substantial that focus takes a seat, but it helps with the mind-muscle connection making the already suitable pumps great.
No adverse side effects whatsoever, no crash or stomach/digestive issues (minus the clumping)
After the workout, the feeling was even better.
Flavor
I tried Rocket Pop flavor; it was a tolerable flavor with a bitter and chemical taste. Out of 10, I’d give it a 6.5. Other flavors include Blueberry Lemon, and Strawberry.
Scoop Size
A whole serving is 13.7 grams, but with the amount of clumpiness in the tub, I’d HIGHLY recommended a milligram/mg scale as it’s improbable that you could accurately get a proper serving size in just one scoop.
As seen below is a picture, just after opening it, showing how bad the clumpiness is.
Ingredients
Below you’ll find the complete ingredient label for Light Year, along with a breakdown of each ingredient and dosage.

L-Citrulline – 4,000 mg
L-Citrulline is one of the most common pre workout ingredients. It has extensive evidence supporting its effects on increasing nitric oxide production, power output, and endurance.
Although most research uses a variation known as L-Citrulline Malate (2:1), anecdotal evidence supports that L-Citrulline delivers much of the same benefit.
When included as pure L-Citrulline, we like to see 4 grams as the dosage, and Light Year gives you that dose.
Beta Alanine – 3,200 mg
The standard dosage for beta-alanine is 3.2g, which, taken consistently, has been shown to improve muscular endurance by acting as a lactic acid buffer in muscles; this is the ingredient that gives you the “tingles.” The tingles came in 2 waves for me, first was not very noticeable after 12-15 minutes and lasted 5 minutes or so. The second wave was much stronger after about 25 minutes and lasted for 10-15 minutes. In total was an intensity of 7.5 out of 10.
HydroMax ® – 2,000 mg
From MPA Supps, HydroMax is a patented and highly concentrated powdered form of glycerol. It’s broken down into 65% glycerol and 35% silica, and it is a more potent form of glycerol than glycerol monostearate. Noted benefits of HydroMax are enhanced performance, increased muscular pumps, and supporting proper hydration levels.
From PubMed, the hyperhydration effect of glycerol can be used to fight off heat exhaustion.
Two grams is the same amount found in Core Pump and the OG Sparta Nutrition Kraken.
Agmatine Sulfate – 1,000 mg
Agmatine Sulfate is included as a “pump” ingredient, but research is more limited on this ingredient vs. the classic L-Citrulline. The 1,000 mg found in Light Year is within the range you’d typically see in a pre-workout supplement with Agmatine Sulfate, which occasionally ranges between 500mg and 1,500mg.
Alpha GPC – 600 mg
Alpha GPC is used for enhancing cognition and increasing power output. It’s usually a 50% yield of actual GPC.
For athletic purposes, doses tend to range from 300 mg to 600 mg. Doses for reducing the effects of cognitive decline are much higher, around 1,200 mg per day.
Caffeine – 250 mg
The Grand-Daddy of stimulant supplements. It’s in your coffee, tea, soda, heck; it may even be in your sweets and gum (some confectioners add caffeine to their sweets for a kick). Well known for increasing energy, power, and focus, it’s the staple ingredient in all stim-based products—one of the most studied sports compounds.
250 mg is seemingly “low” for a pre workout, but the energy lasted for a substantial 6+ hours.
Eria Jarensis – 250 mg
Eria Jarensis, aka N-Phenethyl Dimethylamine Citrate. Eria Jarensis is a stimulant that is commonly seen alongside DMHA in high stim pre workouts.
250 mg is a suitable dosage for this ingredient (also the same found in M2). Usual doses range from 150 mg to 500 mg, as seen in Flame Pre Workout (which is terrific).
DMHA – 200 mg
DMHA, aka Kigelia Africana, Juglans Regia (J. Regia), Octodrine, and Dimethylhexylamine. DMHA is a stimulant, similar to DMAA, known for boosting energy, focus, and mood.
200 mg is a pretty standard dose; however, just because it says something on the label doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll “feel” it. You feel it here.
PEA – 150 mg
PEA, aka, B-Phenylethylamine is a neurotransmitter that inhibits uptake and efflux (i.e., removal) of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin levels (2008 study). PEA is included here to increase focus and motivation. Typical dosages range between 200 mg and upwards of 600 mg. As MAO-B primarily metabolizes it and rather quickly, it requires an MAO Inhibitor to length the feeling, as stated in this study. Hence, the 150 mg is relatively low, but I believe it aided in the mood elevation.
Dendrobium – 30 mg
Once dubbed “DMAA’s replacement,” dendrobium extract is a Chinese herb traditionally used to boost the immune system and provide energy.
Dendrobium is rich in PEA, a central nervous stimulant and reuptake inhibitor of norepinephrine. Dendrobium is supposed to help increase focus and motivation.
30 mg is relatively light, as typical doses range from 200 mg to 600 mg, most pre-workout supplements. 30 mg is a very disappointing dosage in an otherwise well-dosed product
Huperzine-A 1% – 10 mg
Like Alpha GPC, Huperzine A is cholinergic that acts as a cognitive enhancer. It tends to be taken in 50 mcg to 200 mcg doses, so the dose found in Light Year is over the clinical amount. As an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor (prevents the breakout of Choline and its sources), it helps lengthen the half-life of cholinergic sources (such as Alpha GPC, Citicoline, CDP Choline, etc.) (Examine) and will keep your focus longer.
Usually, Huperzine-A 1% is at 1% yield, giving a yield of 100 mcg.

Light Year Pre Workout Review (Galaxy Labs)
Summary
Light Year pre workout is a muscle-swelling, high-flying product. Powered by 4 g L-Citrulline, 3.2 g Beta-Alanine, 2 g HydroMax, 1 g Agmatine, 600 mg Alpha GPC, 250 mg Caffeine, 250 mg Eria Jarensis, 200 mg DMHA, 150 mg PEA, and others, this product made me legit euphoric and happy. I could easily give this product a higher score (maybe 4.8) if it wasn’t clumpy or at least as clumpy as it is. I would recommend it for anyone experienced with pre workouts and has tried gray market stims because even with just 250 mg caffeine, this one hit and hit very well. Before you use this, though, get a milligram scale. They luckily aren’t too expensive and will come in handy to make sure you are getting what you think you are getting.
