Centurion Labz is known for some very hardcore supplements dating back to the DMHA days. They’ve returned with a new version of God of Rage, Unchained. Featuring a high stimulant formulation and effective pump ingredients to round it out.
I was genuinely impressed by the effectiveness of this product, a fantastic hitter for the pump, strength, focus, energy, and thermogenesis. You won’t be disappointed! If you are sensitive to alpha yohimbe, you can reduce the serving amount for even more servings from this 25-scoop container.
I suggest this product to anyone looking for a pre-workout that will wake the dead and kick you into the gym, even on those low-motivation days!
Thank you, Jake with Nutricartel, for sending this full product for review!

Experience
Eight minutes after ingestion, I felt my focus grow while enjoying happy vibes. My eagerness and excitement for the gym when taking this product is heightened. There is a slight tingly, almost numbing feeling in my cheeks and around my temples. The energy ramped up around 15 minutes, climbing from a 3 to a 5, as did the focus. By the time I reached the gym, I was ready with high stress and energy levels, and it hadn’t been 30 minutes yet.
At 40 minutes, I felt a head buzz, focus and energy all come together. Energy was at a workable level, I was revved up but not too much where I was unproductive. My ears were on fire, eyelids tingled and I was buzzing. Each time I ran this, I would have the most potent, thermogenic effects, having to wipe everything down between sets. I didn’t feel the need to warm up, but I still liked to get the blood flow to the muscle group before hitting heavy weights. Like Jay Cutler used to train, I was moving up in weight rapidly.
My strength and endurance were at an all-time high during my training, making me question, in a good way, what Centurion Labz put into this. The mind-to-muscle connection, pump, and vascularity were terrific. Being so high energy, I pushed harder, and the day I had sled pushes made me feel more winded as I was bent over. It didn’t cause any lightheadedness, but it wouldn’t have been an issue if I had done my HITT earlier in the workout. At the end of my training, I had good energy, and some focus left over for hours after, with no crash. I never left the gym dissatisfied, substantial soreness followed these workouts as I shifted my training for muscle growth.
Side Effects
This is a hardcore pre-workout you should avoid abusing or overusing. While using this product, I didn’t experience any adverse effects, but if you are not used to high stimulants, I suggest you start with less than a whole serving to gauge if the effects are too strong for you.
Flavor
“Rainbow Sherbet” was the flavor I was sent for review. It had an excellent, tasty flavor, smooth with no bitterness, just like the sherbet desert of the same name. The flavor desirability was about 10/10. The suggested amount of water was 6-12 ounces, but less was more for me. I enjoyed around 10 ounces of water.
Dose/Scoop Size
The serving size is 15.72 grams for a whole serving, which is a slightly rounded scoop. This powder is very crystal-like, which makes it harder to make a rounded scoop, but it can get there. I shake my supplements before using them, especially the first time, but not every time. This product didn’t give a fluffiness, so I feel the slightly rounded scoop I had will be the same as anyone else’s.
Since this is a highly stimulant-based product, you should weigh your scoops out when first using until you assess your tolerance. I used a whole serving each use, which hit precisely how I needed it. We get 25 servings, above industry standard and a value based on the effectiveness and price of the market. The mixability was excellent, with no amount of sediment toward the end of the shaker.
Ingredients
This is a solid formulation, and I wouldn’t have thought it needed any more stimulants or this many, but it works so damn well. I would only suggest a more bioavailable form of choline, such as alpha GPC or CDP, but I still felt a fantastic focus and buzz. The dosages were made efficiently and clinically, so the pump ingredients might seem under-dosed compared to the market. I challenge you to find more than a couple of products that perform this great in pumps with the amount of stimulants we have here. I don’t say this often to companies, but excellent job, Centurion Labz.
L-Citrulline Malate 2:1 – 6 g
L-citrulline is one of the most common pre-workout ingredients. Extensive evidence supports its ability to increase nitric oxide production, power output, pumps, blood flow, and endurance. It is typical for this ingredient to contain malic acid mixed in a 2:1 ratio per the clinical studies if disclosed. Malic acid has some benefits similar to beta-alanine, and these ingredients aren’t in a chemical bond, some products may list malic acid as a separate ingredient.
You want 4 to 6 grams of pure l-citrulline for proper clinical dosage. If the ratio on the label is 2:1, a 6-gram dose would contain close to 3.96 grams. Per the clinical trials, daily supplementation is required to obtain the full benefits.
Some critical points are amino acid precursors, enhanced nitric oxide production, improved endurance, reduced muscle fatigue, cardiovascular health, and erectile dysfunction.
Beta-Alanine – 3.2 g
Beta-alanine has been shown to support muscular endurance and act as a lactic acid buffer. Depending on the source of this ingredient, you may feel the paresthesias tingling effect. This feeling is often desirable in the sports community, as it makes you feel the intensity after ingestion. This may be negated by diet and intake of beta-alanine.
Beta-alanine requires regular intake to be effective, akin to creatine. Daily beta-alanine supplementation is recommended to become effective, with a three to five-week loading period. The recommended daily dosage is 3 to 4 grams for beta-alanine, putting Face/Off in the standard clinical dose range. When you consume beta-alanine, it combines with another amino acid called histidine to form carnosine.
Carnosine is found in high muscle concentrations and is a buffer against lactic acid buildup during intense exercise. This buffering effect can delay the onset of muscle fatigue and improve exercise capacity. By increasing carnosine levels in muscles, beta-alanine helps reduce the accumulation of hydrogen ions, contributing to muscle acidity and fatigue. This allows athletes to perform at a high intensity slightly longer before experiencing fatigue.
It is not abundantly found in typical dietary sources, so it’s challenging to obtain the required amounts solely through diet. However, it is naturally present in small quantities of animal products like meat and fish.
Glycerol Monostearate – 3 g
Glycerol provides enhanced performance, increased muscular pumps, and supports proper hydration levels. Most pump products work by increasing Nitric Oxide (NO) production, which then leads to increased vasodilation. Glycerol increases vascularity and pumps via raising the osmotic pressure within bodily fluids, which supports water movement throughout the body.
From PubMed, the hyperhydration effect of glycerol can be used to fight off heat exhaustion. 3-5 grams should be noticeable for pumps, putting this in the lower range for powder-based glycerol.
DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol) – 500 mg
DMAE is a choline molecule used to treat cognitive decline in elderly patients. It is included in pre-workouts to promote focus and feelings of well-being. Dosing guidance for performance enhancement needs to be better understood.
For reference, Chemix pre-workout contains 400 mg of DMAE, while Dark Energy and Assassin V6 contain 750 mg.
Choline Bitartrate – 500 mg
Choline is a focus ingredient and chlorogenic source. Compared with alpha goc, choline bitartrate may be less effective as a nootropic.
Dosages usually range between 500 mg and 2,000 mg, with 500 if it is on the lower end of the market standard, but it might be enough to experience the benefits of choline. However, since the bioavailability is less than alpha gpc or cdp, it may be less potent.
Caffeine Anhydrous – 325 mg
Caffeine anhydrous is the standard form of caffeine, known for increasing energy, alertness, motivation, and mood. The caffeine content varies for each product. The 350-450 range is the typical dosage for sports supplements, and some products may contain other forms or stimulants, such as below. With the infinergy below, we have 400 mg of caffeine.
Less is more, as your dependency will lead to diminishing returns as you increase your intake. The overall combination of many factors, such as sleep, when you take caffeine, diet, and nutrition, affect how much you will need.
Theobromine – 200 mg
Theobromine is a “caffeine light” stimulant ingredient found in chocolate, some tea plants, and the kola nut. Its name means “Food of the Gods.” Greek “theo” means gods, and “broma” means food.
Some anecdotal evidence suggests that theobromine can affect mood elevation, focus, and stimulation. Most doses range from 100 to 400 mg, leaving this in the middle. It is a bitter alkaloid compound naturally found in various plants, most notably in cocoa beans used to make chocolate products. On average, a 50 g piece of dark chocolate could contain 378 mg of theobromine. It is a chemical relative of caffeine and is classified as a xanthine alkaloid.
It is known for its stimulant effects, although its impact is generally milder than caffeine. It stimulates the central nervous system and has diuretic effects, which means it can increase urine production. It also relaxes smooth muscles, which can lead to bronchodilation and relaxation of blood vessels.
Theobromine has been studied for its potential health benefits. Some research suggests that it positively affects cardiovascular health by improving blood flow and reducing blood pressure. It has also been explored for its potential role in cognitive function and mood enhancement.
N-Phenethyl Dimethylamine Citrate – 200 mg
Eria Jarensis is a stimulant frequently seen alongside DMHA in high-stim pre-workouts.
200 mg is a strong dosage for this ingredient; being an exotic stimulant, it isn’t clinically studied and isn’t currently the highest on the market. The most eria jarensis I’ve ever seen in a pre-workout is 500 mg with Flame pre-workout (which is fantastic).
Mucuna Pruriens – 100 mg
Also known as velvet bean extract, mucuna pruriens extract is a traditional herbal supplement with minor dopamine-increasing and cortisol-reducing effects, among other things. One of its more reliable effects is a noticeable reduction in Parkinson’s disease symptoms, though that is irrelevant here.
Mucuna pruriens, also known as velvet bean or cowhage, is a tropical legume native to Africa and tropical regions of Asia. It has a long history of use in traditional medicine and as a food source. Mucuna pruriens is known for its seeds, which contain a variety of biologically active compounds, including L-DOPA (levodopa), a precursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine.
Some additional benefits include direct precursor to dopamine, aphrodisiac, fertility, mood enhancement, cognitive function, libido increase, and treatment for Parkinson’s Disease.
Infinergy™ (Dicaffeine Malate) – 100 mg
Di-caffeine malate is the extended-release version of caffeine, which usually slowly releases and adds to energy/focus later in the workout, delaying or preventing a crash depending on the formulation of stimulants in the pre-workout. Typically, 75% caffeine anhydrous and 25% malic acid, meaning 100 mg, would yield 75 mg of actual caffeine.
Infinergy™ represents a precise combination of Caffeine and Malic Acid into an ionic bonded compound. By combining the well-established properties of Caffeine and Malic Acid, Infinergy™ offers a multi-dimensional ingredient that not only optimizes energy levels but also stimulates thermogenesis while promoting mental focus.
Synephrine HCL – 75 mg
Synephrine, or isopropylnorsynephrine, is a well-researched ingredient shown to aid in weight loss. It is a common ingredient in many reputable weight loss supplements. It may also appear on ingredient labels as bitter orange extract. You may also see iso-norsynephrine, which is also a lipolytic agent and is generally considered to be a more robust version of synephrine.
“In general, bitter orange extract alone (p-synephrine) or in combination with other herbal ingredients did not produce significant adverse events as an increase in heart rate or blood pressure or alter electrocardiographic data, serum chemistry, blood cell counts or urinalysis. p-Synephrine alone and in combination products were shown to increase resting metabolic rate and energy expenditure, and modest increases in weight loss were observed with bitter orange extract/p-synephrine-containing products when given for six to 12 weeks.” Synephrine Meta-Analysis
Synephrine also increases energy and controls appetite. A standard dosage for this ingredient would be around 50mg, which is exceeded here with a highly efficient dosage.
AstraGin – 25 mg
Astragin is a patented ingredient that increases the bioavailability of nutritional supplements. In other words, it helps your body absorb more of the ingredients in the product, which allows the effectiveness of the ingredients. As the serving size increases, so does the need for a digestion aid. The dosage for this ingredient is 50 mg set by the manufacturer, which we are at half that here.
Yohimbine HCl – 5 mg
This is a popular ingredient in many supplements. It has a variety of uses and can serve as an appetite suppressant, fat burner, aphrodisiac, mood elevator, and performance and focus ingredient. Yohimbe is a tree native to central and western Africa, and the bark of the tree produces an alkaloid called yohimbine. Depending on the quality of the extract, it can be very potent, so dosing varies with different products or brands.
This isn’t to be confused with alpha yo (rauwolfia vomitoria extract). Some individuals are more susceptible to alpha yohimbine and avoid any pre-workout with it outright. Common adverse side effects include anxiety, headaches, sweating, frequent urination, and increased blood pressure.
Alpha Yohimbe – 1.5 mg
Based on effects and intensity, this is Rauwolfia Vomitoria Extract. “Alpha yo” is a “love it or hate it” stimulant. Some individuals are susceptible to alpha yohimbine and avoid any pre-workout with it outright. Common adverse side effects include anxiety, headaches, sweating, frequent urination, and increased blood pressure.
If you are sensitive to the effects of Alpha Yo, I’d suggest starting with one capsule to assess if the effects are too strong for you. Dosages can range from 0.5 to 3 mg, with the ladder being very potent.
Rauwolfia vomitoria is a plant native to West and Central Africa. It is a member of the Apocynaceae family and has a long history of traditional medicinal use by indigenous peoples in the regions where it grows. The plant is also known by various names, including “African serpentwood” and “kouayang.”
The plant contains several alkaloids, including reserpine, ajmaline, and serpentine. Reserpine, in particular, is a well-known compound found in Rauwolfia vomitoria and has been used to treat high blood pressure and certain mental disorders. The alkaloids in Rauwolfia vomitoria have been investigated for their potential antimalarial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties, among other effects.
Huperzine A – 200 mcg
Huperzine A is cholinergic and acts as a cognitive enhancer. As an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, it helps lengthen the half-life of cholinergic sources. Depending on the extract percentage, it is taken in 50 to 200 mcg dosages. This is a higher dosage, making it highly effective in this pre-workout.
Huperzine A is a naturally occurring alkaloid compound derived from a Chinese club moss plant (Huperzia serrata). It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries and is known for its potential cognitive-enhancing properties. Some additional benefits include cognitive enhancers, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, nootropic, and smart drugs.
