I’m gonna do it.. Do you want to play a game? Insane Labz wants you to play the game of guessing the dosage with their proprietary blended pre-workout! Does this affect the expectations for this product or experience? Find out more below.
Psychotic Saw Pre-Workout is a stimulant-based product meant solely for high energy or even as used for a caffeine bump during the day, as all of us stimulant junkies need from time to time.
I would recommend this product to anyone, but please use caution as the serving size is below the flat line, making it easy to overdose on.
Thank you, Jake with Nutri Cartel, for sending this full product for review!
Recommended for high-stim lovers, but use caution when measuring serving size.

Experience
Immediately upon ingestion, I felt a tingling sensation on my lips and lower extremities.
Typically, whenever I encounter something illicit – absent from the label – it causes me to use the garage gym homie scale of genitals tingles. While this effect was very minor and not negative, it was a 4/10. This is a difficult metric and not something everyone will feel, but I wanted it to mention it.
I also felt an immediate energy ramp up around this time, starting at five minutes and growing over the next 20.
The tingling, also known as paresthesia from beta-alanine/niacin, grew over the crown of my head, shoulders, neck, and brow line, starting around 15 minutes and continuing to grow until 40 minutes. It was quite amazing; the sensations felt a head buzz level of 7.5/10, which was very pleasant. The feelings make you want to rush to the gym, but don’t worry because the stimulation has just begun!
When you read this review and take this product, you will remember how I was right about the potency and how quickly the effects were felt. The time it took for me to feel these effects was quicker than most products, so I quickly made it to the gym to see what came next.
This product is for those looking for a not-all-day buzz but good quick energy for your workout. I imagine the effects would greatly increase with the serving sizes, but I could get all I needed by using one scoop.
The yohimbine and alpha yo weren’t overly stimulating, with trembles or issues breathing. I had good energy throughout my workouts, some focus but not much. The thermogenic effect was noticeable from the alpha yo and yohimbine.
Strength was slightly increased, and some vascularity was there also. After an hour, the head buzz faded off, and a good, clear-minded focus was left over. I could cruise through my sets with no issues, and time seemed to pass more quickly.
Muscle contraction and control were improved, which allowed me to get the peaks of the muscles more greatly with DOMS following those workouts (delayed onset muscle soreness).
Side Effects
Oddly enough, my teeth would feel different when I took this. It wasn’t a pain but a cross between numbness and an increased blood flow ache.
Flavor
Watermelon was the flavor I was sent for review, which is a great-tasting and slightly bitter taste. Rating this taste is very subjective and does not count against a product, but I rate it 8/10. Twelve ounces of water was a bit much, as the flavor was good but less potent. It’s best around 8 ounces for really sweet or 10.
The suggested amount of water was 8-10 ounces. I enjoyed around 10 ounces of water, as the flavor was perfect at this ratio.
Dose/Scoop Size
The serving size is 6.2 grams for each scoop of the watermelon flavor, as it slightly differs for each flavor. This product is dangerous. The measured one serving is a level scoop flush with the middle of the handle below the lip, which makes it too easy to overdose as most people will do a flat or rounded scoop, which would be close to 800 mg of caffeine and even more alpha yo.
I shake my supplements before using them, especially the first time. This can cause aeration, making the powder fluff and causing scoops to measure slightly differently.
Since this is a high-stimulant-based product, you should be weighing them out until you assess your tolerance. I used a full 1-scoop serving each use, which hit precisely how I needed it and adequately for this product review. We have 30 servings at the one-scoop dosage, higher than the current market standard.

Ingredients
According to Insane Labz, this propriety blend includes 390 mg of caffeine, as their website describes. In typical fashion, Insane Labz gives us a non-disclosed label.
Proprietary blends in this day and age are reckless and lazy, only protecting the company from people being informed on the product’s high or low dosages.
It is obviously underdosed on everything; the only ingredient we know the dose of is caffeine. Since their site says 390 mg, we don’t know if they include the citrate or dicaffeine malate, and if they are, it only allows the tyrosine and beta-alanine to be slightly higher doses.
At the end of the day, you don’t know what is truly in a product even if every ingredient is disclosed, such as flavoring like Nutrabio. Based on the effects I experienced, this product contains plenty of stimulants to keep you feeling ready.

Beta-Alanine
Beta-alanine has been shown to support muscular endurance and act as a lactic acid buffer. Depending on the source of this ingredient, you may feel the paresthesias tingling effect. This feeling is often desirable in the sports community, as it makes you feel the intensity after ingestion. This may be negated by diet and intake of beta-alanine.
Beta-alanine requires regular intake to be effective, akin to creatine. Daily beta-alanine supplementation of 3-4 grams is recommended to become effective, with a three to five-week loading period. Three to four grams is the recommended daily dosage for beta-alanine. When you consume beta-alanine, it combines with another amino acid called histidine to form carnosine.
Carnosine is found in high muscle concentrations and is a buffer against lactic acid buildup during intense exercise. This buffering effect can delay the onset of muscle fatigue and improve exercise capacity. By increasing carnosine levels in muscles, beta-alanine helps reduce the accumulation of hydrogen ions, contributing to muscle acidity and fatigue. This allows athletes to perform at a high intensity slightly longer before experiencing fatigue.
Typical dietary sources do not abundantly contain it, so it’s challenging to obtain the required amounts solely through diet. However, it is naturally present in small quantities of animal products like meat and fish.
L-Tyrosine
L-tyrosine boosts cognitive performance in stressful environments. Pre-workouts include it as a focus ingredient and help achieve anti-stress effects. The typical dosage range is 500 mg to 2,000 mg for exercise.
L-tyrosine is a naturally occurring amino acid and a precursor to several important neurotransmitters and hormones in the body. It plays a significant role in producing dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, which regulate mood, stress response, physical performance, and cognitive function.
Caffeine Anhydrous
Caffeine Anhydrous is the standard form of caffeine, known for increasing energy, alertness, and motivation, reducing the perception of fatigue, and improving concentration and mood. It is a powdered form of caffeine commonly used as a supplement and in various products, including energy drinks, pre-workout supplements, and over-the-counter medications. “Anhydrous” means without water, so caffeine anhydrous is essentially dehydrated caffeine, typically a white, odorless, and bitter-tasting powder.
The caffeine content varies for each product. 350-450 is the typical dosage for sports supplements, 200-300 is the range for fat burners, and some products may contain other forms or stimulants. Caffeine works by blocking the action of adenosine, a neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation and sleepiness. This increases the release of neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine, which contribute to heightened alertness.
Less is more, as your dependency will lead to diminishing returns as you increase your intake. The overall combination of many factors, such as sleep, when you take caffeine, diet, and nutrition, affect how much you will need. Recent attention on caffeine consumption within 90 minutes of waking has been given by Dr. Andrew Hubberman, who said it causes the delay of clearing of adenosine. Ingestion of caffeine upon waking will likely produce a mid-day crash, according to his research, so plan your consumption accordingly.
Yerba mate
Yerba Mate is a reasonably rare supplement that can help with energy and mood. In one study, those given one 1-gram capsule of ground yerba mate leaves right before exercise burned 24% more fat during moderate-intensity exercise. An animal study showed that yerba mate might reduce appetite and boost metabolism, which can help with weight loss.
Yerba mate, often simply referred to as mate, is a traditional South American beverage made from the leaves and stems of the yerba mate plant (Ilex paraguariensis). It is a popular drink in countries like Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and parts of Brazil, and it has gained recognition in other parts of the world for its potential health benefits.
The benefits include stimulant properties, antioxidants, nutritional content, improved mental alertness, weight management, and digestive and cardiovascular health. Yerba mate contains caffeine, but its caffeine content is generally lower than coffee and more similar to tea. The caffeine in mate is often called “mateine,” although it is essentially the same as in other beverages.
Caffeine Citrate
Caffeine Citrate is a faster-acting version of caffeine when compared to caffeine anhydrous. It’s not very common in supplements. Some popular pre-workouts, like Wrecked Extreme and M2, include this ingredient. It is usually 50% Caffeine and 50% Citric Acid, meaning a 100 mg dosage would yield 50 mg of actual caffeine.
Infinergy (Dicaffeine Malate)
Infinergy™ Di-Caffeine Malate is the extended-release version of caffeine, which usually slowly releases and adds to energy/focus later in the workout, delaying or preventing a crash depending on the formulation of stimulants in the pre-workout. Typically, 75% caffeine anhydrous and 25% malic acid, meaning 100 mg, would yield 75 mg of actual caffeine.
Infinergy™ represents a precise combination of Caffeine and Malic Acid into an ionic bonded compound. By combining the well-established properties of Caffeine and Malic Acid, Infinergy™ offers a multi-dimensional ingredient that not only optimizes energy levels but also stimulates thermogenesis while promoting mental focus.
TeaCrine
Teacrine, the patented form of theacrine, is often taken to help minimize the negative effects of caffeine, similar to l-tyrosine.
Per this study, teacrine increased the running time-to-exhaustion, giving you more endurance, no increased heart rate, and even reduced reaction time, increasing your focus. A typical dosage would yield 100 mg based on the percent.
Dimethylaminoethanolmine (DMAE)
DMAE is a choline molecule used to treat cognitive decline in elderly patients. It is included in pre-workouts to promote focus and feelings of well-being. Dosing guidance for performance enhancement needs to be better understood.
For reference, Chemix pre-workout contains 400 mg of DMAE, while Dark Energy and Assassin V6 contain 750 mg.
CognatiQ (Coffee Fruit Extract)
CognatiQ is a patented product from the whole fruit of the coffee plant, Coffea arabica. One dose of 100 mg of WCFC increased serum BDNF by 54% and exosomal BDNF by 206%. BDNF, a Brain-Derived Nootropic Factor, is essential for learning, memory, alertness, mood, controlling body weight, and controlling energy metabolism (Scientific Research Open Access). It is also stimulant-free (Source).
OxyGold
Not much information is found on this version of fulvic acid, but the information listed below is from the manufacturer. Most Insane Labz products contain this ingredient.
OxyGold®, featuring fulvic acid, is recognized as an unparalleled enhancer of nutrients, offering advantages in terms of endurance, muscle adaptation, nutrient absorption, hormone balance, and the promotion of healthy testosterone production. The integration of Fulvic Acid into your nutrition and training routine is suggested to be advantageous. Fulvic acid is also believed to assist in directly delivering oxygen to muscles. Incorporating Fulvic acid into your supplement regimen is purported to decrease the accumulation of CO2 and lactic acid, leading to a shortened recovery period and heightened endurance. This positions Fulvic acid as particularly suitable for training and high-level sports activities.
Ampiberry
Not much information is found on this version of fulvic acid, but the information listed below is from the manufacturer. Most Insane Labz products contain this ingredient.
AMPiberry® (Juniperus communis (berry)) is a natural ingredient known for its proven ability to boost energy levels and focus during workouts. Its mechanism involves enhancing the absorption of other components in the pre-workout formula and slowing down their metabolism. This leads to more prolonged and effective workout sessions. Insane Labz has secured a trademark for the use of Ampiberry®️ in their pre-workout products, making it exclusive to their brand. This ensures that customers receive a distinctive and effective product. The ingredients in Psychotic® collaborate to improve endurance, strength, and mental focus during workouts. Insane Labz, backed by science and featuring unique and effective ingredients like Ampiberry®️, stands out among other pre-workout brands, promising optimal workout performance for users.
Yohimbine HCl
This is a popular ingredient in many supplements. It has a variety of uses and can serve as an appetite suppressant, fat burner, aphrodisiac, mood elevator, and performance and focus ingredient. Yohimbe is a tree native to central and western Africa, and the bark of the tree produces an alkaloid called yohimbine. Depending on the quality of the extract, it can be very potent, so dosing varies with different products or brands.
This isn’t to be confused with alpha yo (rauwolfia vomitoria extract). Some individuals are more susceptible to alpha yohimbine and avoid any pre-workout with it outright. Common adverse side effects include anxiety, headaches, sweating, frequent urination, and increased blood pressure.
Rauwolscine (Rauwolscine Vomitoria)
“Alpha yo” is a “love it or hate it” stimulant. Some individuals are susceptible to alpha yohimbine and avoid any pre-workout with it outright. Common adverse side effects include anxiety, headaches, sweating, frequent urination, and increased blood pressure.
If you are sensitive to the effects of Alpha Yo, I’d suggest starting with a smaller serving size to assess if the results are too strong for you. Dosages can range from 0.5 to 3 mg, with the ladder being very potent.
Rauwolfia vomitoria is a plant native to West and Central Africa. It is a member of the Apocynaceae family and has a long history of traditional medicinal use by indigenous peoples in the regions where it grows. The plant is also known by various names, including “African serpentwood” and “kouayang.”
The plant contains several alkaloids, including reserpine, ajmaline, and serpentine. Reserpine, in particular, is a well-known compound found in Rauwolfia vomitoria and has been used to treat high blood pressure and certain mental disorders. The alkaloids in Rauwolfia vomitoria have been investigated for their potential antimalarial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties, among other effects.
Psychotic Saw Edition Pre-Workout Review
Summary
Do proprietary blends matter? I believe they do. How can you trust the manufacturer if you don’t have transparency? You will often question how much caffeine or alpha they added, especially since all their formulations look similar. Ultimately, it isn’t a bad purchase, but with the expectation of it being for high energy and not a full-blown pump-delivering machine.
