SuperHuman BURN is a nutritional supplement that combines pre workout and fat burner ingredients to create a “2 in 1” workout experience. While most companies will create either a dedicated pre workout or fat burner, Alpha Lion decided to combine these ingredients to address both needs.

Alpha Lion SuperHuman Burn

A friend at Nutrition Cartel was nice enough to send me a sample of Alpha Lion SuperHuman Burn, so I’ll be able to take you through my personal experience with this supplement and let you know how it compares to SuperHuman Supreme Pre Workout and regular SuperHuman Pre Workout, its sister products.

Overall, I was happy with my experience using Burn and think it is a solid option for folks looking to introduce a fat burner into their supplement stack.

Burn is not going to be the “one weird trick” to lose 5 pounds overnight or get shredded in a month. It will help you burn some extra calories per day, which, when combined with a proper diet, can help you lose weight.

In fact, Superhuman Burn was chosen as one of the best fat burner pre workout supplements and strongest fat burning supplements.

My Experience

I tried SuperHuman Burn a few times and had great experiences each time. I was a bit wary to try a product that included fat burning ingredients, as I’ve had some negative experiences with fat burners before (looking at you, Repp Sports), but I didn’t have any negative side effects from using SuperHuman Burn.

On the pre workout side, it delivered nice motivation and focus, just like its sister product, SuperHuman Supreme. Most recently, this carried me through a two hour workout and lasted beyond that, probably delivering two to three hours of solid energy before tapering off over the next one to two hours. Burn felt super clean, with no noticeable negative side effects.

On the fat burner side, it’s harder to say. Based on the research behind the ingredients, there seems to be solid evidence that Burn can help you burn additional calories. Just how much of a difference this will make in your personal life is harder to say, honestly.

To wrap it up, Burn is a solid pre workout. It’s ingredient profile is safe enough that I think you could probably take this on a daily basis without any significant negative effects. This is based on the lack of exotic stimulants in the product.

A Quick Aside on Fat Burners vs. Just Eating Less

Fat burners in general are a small part of a successful attempt to lose weight or slim down. Remember: it comes down to calories in vs. calories out (how many calories you’re eating vs. how many calories you’re burning each day).

If you eat an extra 500 calories worth a pizza and Burn (hypothetically) helped you burn an extra 100 calories, you are still getting an additional 400 calories.

To help with this, some fat burners focus on suppressing appetite to help you eat less. Done responsibly to ensure that you’re still hitting your necessary macros, this can be an effective dieting tactic.

I noticed minor appetite suppression with Alpha Lion Burn – this may be sufficient for most people. Personally, it’s enough for me. I don’t really look for appetite suppression, but I’m also not looking to lose weight.

For people looking for stronger appetite suppression, check out Thermal Spark by Imperial Nutrition (this is the same company that made Excelsior, probably the most intense, high-stim pre workout being made right now).

Alpha Lion Burn Ingredient Label

Here’s the ingredients label for Burn, along with a full breakdown of each ingredient.

Alpha Lion SuperHuman Burn Ingredients Label

Fat Burner Matrix

I’m going to cover the fat burning ingredients first since they’re probably what you’re most interested in.

MitoBurn (L-beta-Aminoisobutyric Acid) – 500 mg

MitoBurn is a trademarked form of L-beta-Aminoisobutyric Acid (aka L-BAIBA or simply BAIBA). Oral supplementation of L-BAIBA, which is what we’re doing when taking SuperHuman Burn) has been shown to increase fatty acid oxidation in the liver, reduce fat gain, and improve glucose tolerance.

Price Plow wrote an in-depth guide on BAIBA, which I’d recommend you check out if you’d like to learn more. But the bottom line is that this ingredient indeed appears to be legit.

Cocoabuterol (Cocoa extract) – 100 mg

This ingredient is touted as having fat burning, mood boosting, and energy enhancing effects, among others. It seems to be a different source of Theobromine, was is commonly seen in many pre workouts and can work well with caffeine to deliver nice mood and energy effects.

I did some intense Googling and wasn’t able to identify any serious research showing how Cocoabuterol helps with fat burning, metabolism, etc.

This ingredient seems a bit suspect to me. But for the Theobromine, it’s not bad.

Advantra Z Bitter Orange Extract (Synephrine) – 100 mg

Synephrine is a well-researched ingredient that has been shown to aid in weight loss.

“In general, bitter orange extract alone (p-synephrine) or in combination with other herbal ingredients did not produce significant adverse events as an increase in heart rate or blood pressure, or alter electrocardiographic data, serum chemistry, blood cell counts or urinalysis. p-Synephrine alone as well as in combination products were shown to increase resting metabolic rate and energy expenditure, and modest increases in weight loss were observed with bitter orange extract/p-synephrine-containing products when given for six to 12 weeks.”

Synephrine Meta Analysis

100 mg is plenty of Synephrine to see weight loss effects.

CaloriBurn GP (Grains of Paradise Seed Extract, 6-Paradol 12.5%) – 40 mg

Grains of Paradise has some promising research around it, but still needs additional evidence to support its fat loss effects. With that said, there is some interesting research that shows it can activate brown adipose tissue, which can help increase a body’s metabolism, burning more calories in the process.

At 12.5% 6-Paradol, the 40 mg dosage is the same used in human clinical trials that have shown up to a 5% increase in energy expenditure (source).

Pump & Performance Matrix

L-Citrulline – 4 g

L-Citrulline is an amino acid that turns into L-arginine in the kidneys. Consuming L-Citrulline improves nitric oxide metabolism, increasing endurance for aerobic and anaerobic exercise, along with reducing fatigue.

It is a classic “pump” ingredient and 4 grams is a fair dosage. (More info: Examine)

Beta Alanine – 3.6 g

This is a bit above the standard dosage for beta alanine, which, taken consistently, has been shown to improve muscular endurance by acting as a lactic acid buffer in muscles.

This is the ingredient that gives you the “tingles.”

Taurine – 1 g

Taurine is kind of a “miscellaneous” pre workout ingredient with a range of potential, albeit limited, physical benefits. It can aid in blood flow, reduce cramping, and act as a booster to anti-oxidant defense systems (Examine).

It’s a pretty insignificant ingredient in pre workout compared to other ingredients, but doesn’t hurt anything either.

1 gram is a decent dosage of taurine to achieve any effects it has to offer.

Energy Matrix

Caffeine Anhydrous – 225 mg

Caffeine anhydrous is the typical form of caffeine, well known for increasing energy, power, and focus.

SuperHuman Burn contains 225 mg of caffeine anhydrous, which is definitely on the lower side for most pre workouts. But there is a second source of caffeine below, which increases the total punch.

L-Theanine – 225 mg

Theanine is a stimulant, similar to caffeine, but is most effective when combined with caffeine. Combined, theanine can work synergistically and help reduce some of the negative side effects of high caffeine dosages like jitters.

225 is a decent dose for L-Theanine.

DiCaffeine Malate – 100 mg

DiCaffeine Malate is the extended release version of caffeine, helping offset crash effects of caffeine anhydrous. It kicks in as the initial caffeine is wearing off, helping the pre workout last even longer.

100 mg is pretty standard of dicaffeine malate – yielding 75 mg of caffeine.

This brings the total amount of caffeine in SuperHuman Burn up to 300 mg. Not bad.

Focus Matrix

Choline Bitartrate – 1 g

Choline is often included in doses ranging from 1 to 2 grams to help boost mental focus as a nootropic. However, it is often included in Alpha GPC form for this purpose and Choline bitartrate may not be as effective for nootropic purposes (source).

While 1 gram is an okay dosage, there really is not enough research around Choline to reliably predict effects.

Acetyl L-Carnitine – 1 g

Acetyl L-Carnitine is used for cognitive enhancement, with 1 gram being within the clinical dosage range (Examine).

L-Tyrosine – 1 g

L-Tyrosine helps “smooth out” some of the harsher effects of stimulants, which is definitely not a bad idea for SuperHuman Burn. Some limited research also shows it can act as a cognitive booster in stressful environments.

1 gram of pure L-Tyrosine is a very generous dosage.

And that’s it! I definitely think SuperHuman Burn is worth checking out if you’re in the market for a proven fat burner and want to kill two birds with one stone by also getting a pre workout.
