Speed by Vices and Vibes is a great product seemingly inspired by the movie Limitless. This product’s entire ingredient profile is unique, as it isn’t an overload of focus-boosting stimulants but rather a unique take on Nootropics. Thank you, Jake, with Nutricartel, for providing this product for my review! I would recommend this product to anyone looking to increase their productivity, improve their attentiveness, or boost focus without a stimulant feeling.

My overall experience with Speed exceeded my expectations, as it was different from other Nootropic products I have used in the past. It is well formulated not to be dominated by excessive energy but rather to take a Nootropic approach. Enjoyable experience!

Experience

Speed is a name I didn’t think my coworkers or friends would be comfortable with as I disclosed what product I used to improve my mental processing and focus. Even though these capsules do take time to digest versus using powder, I felt an increase in energy within the first 20 minutes. From the start, the energy and power were not too overwhelming and they transformed into productive physical energy. As the next 10-15 minutes went by, I felt my focus grow into a smooth Nootropic feeling.

After the 40- to 50-minute mark, depending on the timing of my dosage or additional caffeine intake, I was running smoothly. I felt a highly productive drive develop into a smooth and steady feeling of energy, similar to Limitless, which gave me a uniquely positive experience. The energy remained, but it was not the highlight.

Each experience was similar, even with lower dosages. I experienced effects for the same amount of time each time I used this product. Effects became more prominent when combined with more caffeine, which I did due to my high stimulant tolerance. I never felt entirely depleted but experienced a noticeable decline of function towards the end of the 5-6 hour mark. This sensation may have been affected by whether I exercised, ate a meal, or had less work to do.

There was a noticeable thermogenic effect when I consumed 4-6 capsules, and it typically lasted 3 hours before lessening into a slight tingle in my face. It created a comfortable and euphoric feeling. Lastly, I could precisely perform delicate tasks without experiencing jitters or unsteadiness at any point. Those sensitive to Alpha Yohimbine might respond more, as the product contains a relatively high dose.

Side Effects

While using this product, I felt no adverse side effects or exhaustion, except after intense studying. There isn’t a crash per se; however, at six capsules, I noticed a decline in mental processing power after five or six hours.

Dose

Dosing this product is easy; the recommended serving size is three capsules. The recommended dosage is six capsules. I have utilized this product in various settings and dosages: while at work, working on the computer, working out, with stimulant-free pre-workout, as an afternoon pick-me-up, and as a study aid.

Ingredients

It is surprising to see so many ingredients in this product. The dosages are highly precise per 3 capsules. It isn’t stimulant-based but is very Nootropic. I would like a lower caffeine amount option, but it works well when added to non-stimulant-based products.

Speed by Vices & Vibes Label
Speed by Vices & Vibes Label

Dimethylethanolamine (DMAE) – 750 mg

DMAE is a choline molecule used to treat cognitive decline in elderly patients. It is included in pre-workouts to promote focus and feelings of well-being.

Dosing guidance for performance enhancement needs to be better understood via further studies. For reference, Chemix pre-workout contains 400 mg of DMAE, while Dark Energy and Assassin V6 contain 750 mg.

Beta Phenylethylamine HCl (Beta PEA) – 400 mg

B-Phenylethylamine (Beta PEA) is a neurotransmitter that inhibits uptake and efflux (i.e., removal) of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin levels (2008 study). It is included in Speed to increase focus and motivation.

Rhodiola Powder (Rhodiola Rosea) – 300 mg

Rhodiola Rosea has consistently been shown to reduce fatigue, increase cognition, and somewhat improve subjective well-being (more info at Examine).

Dosages as low as 50 mg are effective when taken daily for fatigue. At 300 mg, we have a substantial dosage in Speed.

N-Phenenthyldimethylamine Citrate – 300 mg

This is more commonly known as Eria Jarensis, a stimulant frequently seen alongside DMHA in high-stimulant pre-workouts.

300 mg is a great dosage for this ingredient. The most Eria Jarensis I’ve ever seen in a pre-workout or Nootropic is 500 mg in Flame pre-workout (which is fantastic).

Bacopa Monniere Extract (50%) – 300 mg

Bacopa Monniere is an herb that may reduce stress & anxiety and improve brain function. While there is some exciting research surrounding its usage as a supplement. Further research is needed to understand its effects better.

Caffeine Anhydrous – 200 mg

Caffeine anhydrous is the standard form of caffeine, known for increasing energy, alertness, motivation, and mood.

Di-Caffeine Malate (74% Caffeine) – 200 mg

This is essentially the “extended-release” form of caffeine. This helps achieve two things, longer-lasting pre-workout or Nootropic effects and a smoother ride on the energy train with fewer crashes.

Di-caffeine malate is 74% caffeine and 26% malic acid. A 200 mg dosage yields 150 mg of caffeine. Combined with the 200 mg of caffeine anhydrous, the total caffeine dosage in a whole serving of Speed is 350 mg.

Juglans Regia Extract – 200 mg

DMHA is a stimulant similar to DMAA, which boosts energy, focus, and mood. It comes in many different forms, of which Juglans Regia Extract is one. Others include 2-aminoisoheptane and Kigelia Africana.

200 mg is a standard but strong dosage. However, just because it says something on the label doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll “feel” it.

Nelumbo Nucifera – 70 mg

While there are no human studies of the Lotus flower, it has been used for centuries to help with mental health. It also boasts antioxidant and antibacterial effects. It is known to be a mild stimulant, stimulating the dopamine receptors and improving motor function (read more). More studies must be completed to understand the extract quality and dosage, as the ranges vary too greatly. Not many products include this ingredient, but it seems to be a fair dosage.

Noopept – 30 mg

Noopept, known as N-Phenylacetyl-L-prolyglycine ethyl ester, is a synthetic nootropic ingredient with cognitive boosting and psychostimulatory effects. 30 mg is a substantial dose of noopept.

Vinpocetine – 20 mg

Vinpocetine is an artificial chemical. Its structure is similar to a substance found in the periwinkle plant. It can improve memory, boost energy, and aid weight loss. Unfortunately, good scientific evidence is lacking to support these uses.

The slowing of dementia and Alzheimer’s is one well-documented effect, although that is not relevant for most athletes.

Huperzia Serrata Extract (1% Huperzine-A) – 20 mg

Huperzine A is cholinergic and acts as a cognitive enhancer. As an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, it helps lengthen the half-life of cholinergic sources (Examine).

It tends to be taken in doses of 50 mcg to 200 mcg but is listed as 20 mg on this label, which is a much greater dose than other products. I would believe that is meant to say 20 mcg. However, I can’t say that for sure.

Black Pepper Extract – 5 mg

Black pepper extract acts to increase the bioavailability of nutritional supplements. In other words, it helps your body absorb all the ingredients in the product. As the serving size increases, so does the need for a digestion aid like black pepper extract. Doses usually range from 5 mg to 15 mg.

Alpha Yohimbine – 1 mg

Yohimbe is a common ingredient in many supplements for its use as a stimulant. It serves as an appetite suppressant, fat burner, aphrodisiac, mood elevator, and athletic performance and focus ingredient. Yohimbe is a tree native to central and western Africa. The bark of this tree produces an alkaloid called yohimbine. Depending on the extract, this ingredient can be more potent than others, which often many people prefer to have 1-3 mg.

Speed by Vices and Vibes Nootropic Review

My overall experience with Speed exceeded my expectations, as it was different from other Nootropic products I have used in the past. It is well formulated not to be dominated by excessive energy but rather to take a Nootropic approach. I enjoyed the experience I had while using this product, and I wish I had had access to it when I was in college, as it would have helped during my studies and test-taking. My preference would be to offer a version of this product without the Alpha Yohimbine and caffeine, as it would increase the potential utilization of this product. I recommend this product for students looking to help focus when they want less crazy physical energy or those looking to help clear a foggy brain.

Pros

  • High-quality ingredients
  • A quick burst of energy
  • Long lasting productiveness
  • Concentration
  • Increased focus
  • Non elicit formulation
  • No crash
  • Mild euphoria
  • Happy Vibes and emotion
  • Made in the USA

Cons

  • A high amount of caffeine
  • Thermogenic effects
